peaceful sights today: a spouting fire hydrant; a basketball game; a ribeye on a sidewalk grill; puerto rican flags hung across the block; the conservatory garden; a free vaccine truck; brick housing projects; a girl sitting in a shopping cart; a scaffolded playground; museum of the city of new york; a man wishing his dad a happy father’s day over speaker phone; a tired mother and her babe; ‘beautiful’; fishermen in central park; a chinese grandfather wearing an i love new york shirt but in chinese, i presume; a grandmother reaching for her husband’s hand as they walked.

i discovered for myself the conservatory garden, a little upper east side oasis. an oasis made better by a public restroom. meanders today extended to the garden, as well as to a more secluded part of upper central park.

coco helado is my new favorite snack on a walk. water and sugar is the only consumable thing in this heat.

i smiled at a garbage man and he called me smiley.
